Choose the zones your home actually needs
In Roomlyo, select open space and choose up to three zones. A typical combination is living, kitchen and dining. If you eat at a counter and work from home, an office zone might be more useful than a separate dining area. Do not include every function from an inspiration image. Match the selection to the way you use the space.
Explain the relationships in your instructions: a table close to the kitchen, seating oriented towards the living area, and an open route from the entrance to the window. Use the current kitchen zone as a reference point. Furnished mode proposes new furniture, so do not assume it will preserve particular cabinets. Compare the result with the real cabinet layout and service connections.
Connect materials while defining activities
Repeat a material or colour across the room: a wood tone at the table and storage unit, neutral walls or similar metal finishes. Identical cabinets are unnecessary. A calm background with deliberate accents makes the relationship between zones clearer.
A rug can identify the seating group, while a pendant over the table can give dining its own focus. Also try a version with fewer visual boundaries. Strong divisions can make a compact room feel fragmented. Use the same photo for both proposals and change one zoning idea at a time so that the comparison remains useful.
Check circulation and the existing kitchen
An island is not essential to an open plan room. Decide whether another work surface solves a real problem or interrupts movement. Consider carrying groceries, pulling chairs out and opening kitchen fronts. Moving a sink, appliance or ventilation point needs an assessment in the property; an image does not establish feasibility.
How to prepare your photo
- Take a photo that shows both the kitchen and living area. Choose a corner that reveals their connection without stitching several views into a panorama.
- Keep fixed cabinets, doors and windows visible. Clear small items from the counter so the kitchen arrangement and furniture edges are easy to read.

- Compare the position and number of appliances, windows and doors. Check whether the model has hidden part of the kitchen or introduced an extra wall.
- Trace the route between kitchen, table and sofa. Account for occupied chairs and open cabinet fronts, not only furniture shown neatly closed.
- Review the whole room: materials should work together, each zone should have a purpose, and no area should unintentionally overpower the others.
